During this 44:58 minute soundtrack from Ellen Allien, the curtain rises and falls on a variety of soundscapes, songs and tracks. A journey through Ellen Allien's world. A musical journey rather than a concept album, the piece fluidly changes while simultaneously uniting various sonic styles; reflecting the ethos of Ellen Allien's DJ sets. Under the direction of Alexandre Roccoli and Sevérine Rième, the performance took place on March 7th 2011 as part of the Spectacles Vivants Festival at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. A year on Ellen decided to revive and rework the piece - some passages remaining the same, while others have been extended to give birth to a new musical composition.

Ellen Allien (born 1968 as Ellen Fraatz) is a German electronic musician, music producer, and the founder of BPitch Control music label. Her album Stadtkind was dedicated to the city of Berlin, and she cites the culture of reunified Berlin as one of the main inspirations for her music. She sings in both German and English. Her music is best described as a blend of IDM and Techno music, which is dance-floor oriented and has noticeable experimental elements. She currently lives in Berlin.
But see, every Allien album is just what it is: an album, but without a real connection between subsequent releases. Sure, some typical Allien-esque features always re-appear: she has always shown to have a knack for combining her rather mechanical electronic beats with, for lack of a better word, poppyness. Sadly enough, each of her previous albums had some great tracks to offer but were not able to sustain the same quality during the course of the whole listen.
