Conversations With The Guitar ‎(LP, Album).

Duets with the Spanish Guitar is an album by Brazilian guitarist Laurindo Almeida with vocalist Salli Terri and flautist Martin Ruderman. On the recording, Almeida arranged classical and folk repertoire with Latin musical forms. Recording engineer Sherwood Hall III won the Grammy Award for Best Engineered Classical Album at the first Grammy Awards in 1959. Salli Terri was nominated for Best Classical Vocal Performance.

Laurindo Almeida (Guitar, Arranger). Born: September 2, 1917 - Miracatu, in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil Died: July 26, 1995 - Van Nuys, California. The Brazilian guitarist, Laurindo Almeida (Laurindo de Almeida), started his music career playing the guitar at serestas (serenades). It was during the 1960's when Laurindo Almeida enjoyed his greatest recognition, winning 6 Grammy Awards for his work: in 1959 for his performance on "Danzas", in 1960 for "The Spanish Guitars Of Laurindo Almeida" and "Conversations With The Guitar". In 1964 the album "Guitar From Ipanema" won the grammy for Best Instrumental Jazz Performance, in 1972 he was nominated for the Best Soloist award with "The Art Of Laurindo Almeida". He also won several other prizes awarded by the record and film industry. Laurindo made over 40 albums abroad, and participated in around 800 movie sountracks.

Laurindo Almeida (September 2, 1917 – July 26, 1995) was a Brazilian guitarist and composer in classical, jazz, and Latin music. He and Bud Shank were pioneers in the creation of bossa nova. Almeida was the first guitarist to receive Grammy Awards for both classical and jazz performances. His discography encompasses more than a hundred recordings over five decades. Laurindo Jose de Araujo Almeida Nobrega Neto was born in the village of Prainha, Brazil near Santos in the state of São Paulo.
