Talking Heads: 77 is the debut studio album by American rock band Talking Heads. It was recorded in April 1977 at New York's Sundragon Studios and released on September 16 of that year by Sire Records. The single "Psycho Killer" reached number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100. After developing a following playing lower Manhattan's CBGB scene, Talking Heads shopped demos they had recorded for record labels, eventually signing a deal with Sire Records in late 1976.

Released in September 16, 1977 and recorded in Sundragon Studios in New York City, Talking Heads:77 is the debut album of American art punk band Talking Heads. It was produced by Tony Bongiovi and released in the US and UK through the Sire label. It was released through Phillips Records in the rest of Europe. The album made number 60 in the 1978 UK album charts, and single Psycho Killer peaked at position 92 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978.

Their debut, Talking Heads 77, took an avant-garde art sensibility and applied it to bubblegum rock and old-school funk. The results cook with skewed genius. Drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth keep a tight grip on the beat, while Jerry Harrison provides flavorful keyboard filigrees.
