Bob Dylan is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on March 19, 1962 by Columbia Records. Produced by Columbia's legendary talent scout John H. Hammond, who signed Dylan to the label, the album features folk standards, plus two original compositions, "Talkin' New York" and "Song to Woody".
Image caption Bob Dylan and Neil Young performed career-spanning sets. Bob Dylan and Neil Young co-headlined a UK gig for the first time as the sun set over London's Hyde Park on Friday. I've never played in daylight before!" joked Young, who went on stage first, adding: "It's great to see everybody. Dylan walked on unannounced, sat down at the piano with a grin and burst straight into Ballad of a Thin Man from his seminal 1965 album, Highway 61 Revisited. While Young had ripped through a set of largely record-faithful live versions of his tracks, Dylan - who appears to no longer play the guitar - reworked many of his hits in different styles, keys and with different melodies. Part of the fun and challenge of seeing him perform in 2019 is picking out the correct tune before your neighbour does, as I somehow managed on the early bar-room version of It Ain't Me, Babe.
Bob Dylan - the first person to win a Nobel Prize the same day as he plays a gig in Las Vegas. What makes a man who has only ever written three books a suitable winner of the Nobel Prize for literature? Bob Dylan arguably made the lyrics more important than the music. Last Friday Dylan supported The Rolling Stones at the Desert Trip Festival in California and his set included Rainy Day Women & 35 from that very album. It is a song with the refrain "everybody must get stoned," leading to decades-long debates about whether it deals with Old Testament-style punishment or a call.
And it has taken him until now to issue his taped lecture, which cites Buddy Holly as an influence. Dylan had until 10 June to deliver the lecture or forfeit the prize money

There is this guy, Bob Dylan, on the front and a few days later, it was a Friday, I'm singing a song at the King and Queen and I look out into the audience and I see this Sing Out! cover sitting in front of me,' he remembers. I finished a couple of songs, walked over to him and said, "You're Bob Dylan". Why did the Self-Portrait 2lp got voted by poll for Dylan& worst album at that time when it was the best impression on him? I guess they pulled it to pieces for it& conceptional work - not being a "Hit Album" and the featured country musicians which were outdated in 1970. Just another example how hard critics can fail. Bob Dylan's 1974 album, Blood on the Tracks, reminded the world that Dylan was a songwriter without peer. On his next album, he decided to experiment by taking on a co-writer, theater director Jacques Levy. While the songs on Blood on the Tracks were highly personal, these new songs were largely about characters, both real and imagined. The latter takes up the entirety of side four and is an 11-minute tribute to his then-wife Sara Lownds. The musicians at the session claim they cut it all in a single take at 4 . The album hit stores just weeks before Dylan's motorcycle crash.
Bob Dylan: Bob Dylan, American folksinger who moved from folk to rock music in the 1960s, infusing the lyrics of rock and roll with the intellectualism of classic literature and poetry. Dylan wrote more than 500 songs recorded by more than 2,000 artists. Dylan spawned imitators at coffeehouses and record labels everywhere. Although his new lyrics were as challenging as his earlier compositions, a backlash from purist folk fans began and continued for three years as Dylan defied convention at every turn. The world fell at Dylan’s feet. And the album containing the hit single, Highway 61 Revisited (1965), further vindicated his abdication of the protest throne.
