The Manfred Mann Album is the debut American studio album by Manfred Mann, released in September 1964 on Ascot Records.

Manfred Mann was a British Beat, R&B and Pop band of the 1960s, named after its South African keyboard player and founder, who later led the successful 1970s follow-on group Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Frustrated with the limitations and image of being seen purely as a hit singles band (their last two albums failed to chart), the group split in 1969, while their final hit, "Ragamuffin Man", was in the Top 10. Manfred Mann's story isn't necessarily a complicated one – the band went through two distinct phases, neatly separated by a switch in lead singers that happened to coincide with a switch in labels – but their discography sure is complicated. It's cluttered with compilations, almost all of them recycling the EMI recordings from 1963-1966 when Paul Jones was the lead singer and the group was an expert, jazzy British R&B band. There are far fewer comps documenting their Fontana recordings from 1963-1969, when Mike d'Abo was fronting the band as it was getting psychedelic,. The Essential Singles 1963-1969.
