List of all The Sisters Of Mercy tickets and tour dates for 2019. The Sisters of Mercy (formed in 1977) is an English gothic rock and post-punk rock band who rose to prominence in the 1980s following their debut, hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Named after the Leonard Cohen song Sisters of Mercy, which members heard in the 1971 film McCabe & Mrs. Miller, the band was formed by Gary Marx and Andrew Eldritch in 1977. The band’s debut output was the single Damage Done/Watch/Home of the Hit-men, following which Sisters of Mercy invited bassist Craig Adams and replaced Eldritch’s drumming with a drum machine. But where's the wonderful spidery guitar-work from their first album? The atmospheric stuff? The answer is that because it sounds 'gothic', and Andrew Eldritch can't stand that tag, it's now turned into groove-heavy but utterly boring guitar work.
The Sisters of Mercy. Vision Thing Tracklist. Vision Thing is the third and, to date, final studio album by British gothic rock band The Sisters of Mercy, released in November 1990 on the band’s own label Merciful Release. The album was designed by songwriter and singer Andrew Eldritch as an attack on the policies of the George H. W. Bush administration (the title comes from an oft-cited quote by Bush). It appears the majority of tracks on the album are based on the original demos, Eldritch being unhappy with the mixed versions and going back to basics. Vision Thing Q&A. AboutSee All.
