The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart. The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart is a 1960 live album by comedian Bob Newhart. Recorded at the Tidelands Club in Houston, Texas, the debut album by Newhart was number one on the Billboard pop album chart and won Album of the Year at the 1961 Grammy Awards, where Newhart was named Best New Artist. It was the first comedy album to win Album of the Year and the only time a comedian had won Best New Artist.

Newhart came to prominence in 1960 when his album of comedic monologues, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart, became a worldwide bestseller and reached number one on the Billboard pop album chart; it remains the 20th-best selling comedy album in history. The follow-up album, The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back!, was also a success, and the two albums held the Billboard number one and number two spots simultaneously

The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart is a classic, great CD (I purchased the CD). The skits are from a live show in 1960. Apparently, Bob Newhart won a Grammy in 1961 for Best New Artist for this work. Bob Newhart is known to most for his TV shows, but prior to that he was a great stand up comic. This album is brilliant, his verbal act invites the listeners to visualize the craziest of situations. I have been listening to this since I was a child.
