Other People's Heartache is a series of mixtapes by Bastille. The first was released in February 2012, the second in December 2012, the third in December 2014, and the fourth in December 2018. Other People's Heartache is a cover EP, self-released by the band Bastille in February 2012. Dan Smith described the concept behind the release as being to "create a fictional film score or film soundtrack using cover versions of songs".
The series is a way for the band to experiment with different styles outside of their main releases, and this part is no different, with surprising pop features such as Seeb from the single Grip. I think there’s something brilliant in music that connects with people being able to echo on through time via other people’s interpretations. Going along with the series' name and history, the album also contains four covers of other artists' work.

Other People’s Heartache Pt. 4 – the latest volume in Bastille’s series of mixtapes – was released today by Virgin Records. The collection sees the band return to the art of reworking other people’s songs. In addition to four cover songs, it includes re-interpretations of several Bastille originals. The new collection serves as a bridge from the sentiments found on the band’s award-winning second album of the same name to its forthcoming third album, due early next year. We wanted to nod to our last album and acknowledge that at the time, you couldn’t help but feel anxious about the terrifying changes in the world and that since then, they’ve all come to pass and everybody’s living through the consequences, explains Bastille front man Dan Smith.
Never a band to take it easy, since finishing touring their second album ‘Wild World’ in August 2017, they’ve done more than some bands fit into five years. That list includes contributing the gloomy ‘World Gone Mad’ to the soundtrack of Netflix movie Bright, reworked their songs with an orchestra for the fittingly titled Re-Orchestrated tour, collaborated with Craig David, done more behind-the-scenes work writing and recording with other artists, made a third album, played a bunch of festivals and US dates, and had an unexpected chart-topping.
