I'm a fool to cry When you tell me goodbye Why should I pretend That our love can't end I'm a fool to care. I know I should laugh And call it a day But I know I would cry If you went away. I'm a fool to care When you don't care for me You just can't be true But what can I do I'm a fool to care.

These 12 songs map out a concise history of American soul, with a heavy dose of New Orleans strut - including the title track (a hit for Fats Domino) and Huey Piano Smith’s High Blood Pressure - and a dollop of Chicago sweetness (the Impressions’ gorgeous I’m So Proud )
