In the operas and tone poems of Richard Strauss, Krauss was dramatic, lyrical, colorful, and imperious. In the waltzes and polkas of Johann and Josef Strauss, Krauss was elegant, rhythmic, tuneful, and infectious. Krauss was a native Viennese - his mother was a Court actress and singer while his father was philandering nobility - and the music of the Strauss family was as much a part of him as the blood in his veins

Clemens Heinrich Krauss (31 March 1893 – 16 May 1954) was an Austrian conductor and opera impresario, particularly associated with the music of Richard Strauss. Krauss was born in Vienna to Clementine Krauss, then a 15-year-old dancer in the Vienna Imperial Opera Ballet, later a leading actress and operetta singer, niece of the prominent nineteenth-century operatic soprano Gabrielle Krauss.
