BLACK NEEDLE NOISE is music for the movies you haven’t dreamt of yet! Musical Soundscapes, Audio Alchemy, Sonic Sculptures, Ambient Black Magic, Glamour & Decay with Grindtronica Overtones
Black Needle Noise features his groundbreaking use of electronics, seeing Fryer work with a host of vocalists, including Front Line Assembly’s Bill Leeb, Kite Base’s Kendra Frost, Andrea Kerr and Mimi Page. I recently interviewed Fryer to discuss the new album, his recent collaboration with Chrysta Bell covering the theme to Twin Peaks, and more. I was curious how you approach your work in Black Needle Noise, particularly on Lost in Reflections: Did you have a general concept of how the album would be from the start or did it come together in pieces? Lost In Reflections was put together like Before The Tears Came, it is a collection of songs/singles put together over time to form the album with 1 extra song that hasn’t been released before just for the album. Black Needle Noise is a stream of consciousness writing, ever-changing and evolving soundscapes.

The Noise is the 20th studio album by the English singer and songwriter Peter Hammill. As the title implies, the album is a collection of uptempo rock songs, in sharp contrast to Hammill's previous album, Fireships, which consisted mainly of ballads. The album was announced on its sleeve as "Number 1 in the A Loud series" (Fireships had similarly been labelled as "Number 1 in the BeCalm series").
Vinyl record needle static. The result is almost two minutes of actual random vinyl noise. Includes the pop of the needle drop at the beginning. The middle section can be cut or looped to be as long as necessary. Since the entire sample is almost two minutes long, there is no chance that it will be noticed as a loop. And you can overlap and layer it to make your music even "dirtier".
