Rated R (also known on vinyl as Rated X) is the second studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released on June 6, 2000 by Interscope Records. It was the band's first album for the label, as well as their first to feature bassist Nick Oliveri and vocalist Mark Lanegan.

Queens of the Stone Age (album). Queens of the Stone Age is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Queens of the Stone Age, released by Loosegroove Records on October 6, 1998. It was primarily written and recorded in April 1998 by founding member Josh Homme and his former Kyuss bandmate Alfredo Hernández, with Hernández playing drums and Homme singing and playing the rest of the instruments

Queens of the Stone Age is the début full-length release by desert rock band Queens of the Stone Age. The self-titled album was recorded between April 3 and April 21, 1998 and was then released on September 22, 1998 by Loosegroove Records. From this, their début and sole single from the album, "If Only", was released in 1998, followed by "I Was a Teenage Hand Model"

The lyrics of "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" consist entirely of a one-line list of recreational drugs that Josh Homme rattles off over and over, a gag that gets pretty tiresome by the end of the song (and certainly doesn't need the reprise that follows "In the Fade"). Fortunately, the rest of the material is up to snuff. R is mellower, trippier, and more arranged than its predecessor, making its point through warm fuzz-guitar tones, ethereal harmonies, vibraphones, horns, and even the odd steel drum

Song: The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret Artist: Queens of the Stone Age Album: Rated R. Ok this is the second single off of Rated R and its class. This is pretty simple as well although there are two guitars playing, one an octave higher on certain bits to give it a layered effect but its not that important. All guitars tuned down two whole steps to C Low to High C,F,Bb,Eb,G,C.

Released in 2000, Rated R was Queens of the Stone Age’s first true breakthrough to the mainstream, expanding on the heavy desert-rock sound with instrumentation such as vibraphone, acoustic guitars, and horns and introducing multiple vocalists (being Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri, who also played bass on the record). In 2010, Homme released a deluxe version of Rated R for the tenth anniversary of the album’s release. The second disc contains B-sides and a recording of the band’s 2000 performance at Reading Festival.
