In the Garden is the debut studio album by the British new wave duo Eurythmics. It was released on 16 October 1981 by RCA Records. It was co-produced with 'krautrock' producer Conny Plank, at his studio in Cologne, and featured numerous guest musicians including Blondie drummer Clem Burke, Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft drummer Robert Görl, and Can duo Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit. Plank had previously worked with the duo whilst they were in their previous band The Tourists.
Eurythmics released their next album, Revenge, in 1986. The album continued their move towards a band sound, verging on an AOR-pop/rock sound. Sales continued to be strong in the UK and internationally, but were somewhat slower in the US, though "Missionary Man" reached No. 14 on the US Hot 100 chart and went all the way to No. 1 on the US Album Oriented Rock chart (AOR). 1990–98: Hiatus and solo careers. After strenuous years of touring and recording (Eurythmics had released eight studio albums in eight years), a rift had developed between the duo and Eurythmics disbanded, although no formal notice was given.
I do not own this song. This song belongs to it's rightful owners. Songwriters: LENNOX, STEWART "I Saved the World Today" is a song recorded by the British pop music duo Eurythmics. It was written and co-produced by bandmembers Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart and was included on their album Peace in 1999. The song was released as the first single from the album and returned Eurythmics to the UK singles chart for the first time in nearly a decade, peaking at number eleven. I Saved the World Today" was not released as a single in the United States.
Songwriting Legends In Their Own Words. Weezer did a lighter version for their 2019 Teal Album. Nas sampled this for his 1996 song "Sweet Dreams. When this became a hit in America, the Eurythmics became a sensation there, appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone and playing sold out shows. Stewart fell in with the Los Angeles music scene, where he wrote "Don't Come Around Here No More" with Tom Petty. This was featured in the films Striptease (1996), Big Daddy (1999) and Ready Player One.
Their videos were stylish and experimental, with the strikingly androgynous Lennox donning a variety of disguises for the camera. I'm very, very critical of myself but I watch those videos and I think, 'Wow, they're really fresh'," says the singer. Apart from our pineapple haircuts. Pretty much relying on themselves, Lennox and Dave Stewart slip past the music's usual coldness and into a territory all their own. It can be smug (the new wave here is served with a side of irony) and a tad dull (the long, operatic pieces serve little purpose), but the payoffs - "Love Is a Stranger" and, especially, the magnificent title tune - are among the finest the genre has to offer.
Revenge is the sixth album by the British new wave music duo Eurythmics, released in 1986. Following on from their previous album, Be Yourself Tonight, Revenge continued further in this direction as the duo embraced a more "rock band" style.
While working as a waitress at a health food restaurant in London, Lennox met Dave Stewart, with whom she formed the band Catch with singer-songwriter Peet Coombes. Catch released one single before adding two more members and changing their name to The Tourists. Under that name, the band scored five UK hits before Coombes' substance abuse broke the band apart.
